The Autumn Market at Rautalampi has been held since 1821. It takes place on the second weekend of September. The Market is open on Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 9am –3pm.

In fine weather, the Market has attracted more than 15,000 visitors in recent years. The event has its origins in the days when an annual autumn market was held for farms to hire servants and farmhands. The hiring of maids and farmhands is still part of the Market tradition, albeit nowadays in the form of a charity auction.

Visitors to the Market are encouraged to dress in the styles of the past in keeping with the Market tradition.
